Job Description

Fulton Hogan is proud to be working with our Alliance partners, Waka Kotahi, HEB, Jacobs, Opus, Gaia and Isthmus delivering the Northern Corridor Improvements (NCI) project.

NCI will provide better links for Northern Motorway (SH1) travellers in Auckland, improving transport options on the North Shore for freight, cars, pedestrians and cyclists.

The Role

We are looking for an experienced Safety Advisor to join an established high performing project team. Our safety culture is based on the belief that people are the core of our success and we have well-established safety systems in place and a leadership team who are active in promoting a safety first approach to work.

What you will be doing :

  • Work with the Health and Safety Manager to promote and implement the Alliance’s Health and Safety management plan across the projects to achieve industry best practice and standards on a daily basis.
  • Review and analyse the project’s safety reports on a weekly / monthly basis, implement improvements.
  • Review and provide feedback on the construction methodologies from a H&S perspective.
  • Ensure incident reporting and investigations are carried out swiftly to determine root cause, ensure recommendations / actions arising are implanted immediately to prevent re-occurrence.
  • Foster the development of attitudes and positive behaviours by encouraging open and informed conversations amongst the wider team.
  • Encourage and develop ownership of safety responsibilities and accountabilities through employee and sub-contractor input on a daily basis.
  • Create a sense of belonging through team building and wellness initiatives
  • Provide training and coaching when required.
  • What you will bring

    Our ideal candidate is a Health and Safety professional who is passionate not only about keeping people safe but also about their wellbeing.

    The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following :

  • Relevant qualification in Health and Safety at an operational level
  • 5-years+ experienced in a similar role preferably in a large-scale civil construction environment
  • Have an understanding of heavy plant / equipment and construction methodology
  • Strong communicator who builds and maintains relationships and has a continuous improvement attitude.
  • Skilled at understanding complex information and presenting it simply and accurately
  • Strong self-management
  • Ability to mediate to resolve issues swiftly and calmly
  • Class 1 driver’s license.
  • Experienced in auditing, incident investigating and reporting writing.
