Anatomical Pathology Service (APS) is an IANZ accredited medical laboratory and is one of New Zealand's premier laboratories in Auckland.
We offer a comprehensive pathology service for Auckland Region. APS is also a major referral laboratory for specialised laboratory tests for New Zealand.
The laboratory is well equipped with the latest technology and has strong established links with all relevant clinical teams and other laboratories around New Zealand.
The department processes over 400 cases per day (average of 900 blocks). Our service provides frozen sections to Auckland’s private hospitals, GPs and Skin Specialists, immunohistochemistry testing, direct immunofluorescence testing (DIF), and trephine sample processing.
The department processes work from the veterinary laboratory and participates in some clinical trials.
You will be a part of our secretarial team consisting of 10 staff within a busy histology department who are responsible for booking and co-
ordinating procedures, transcription of pathology reports and correspondence, organising and locating slides for multidisciplinary meetings and various other administrative tasks.
The position also involves contact with the public and other external agencies.
We know that as a medical secretary you will have a high degree of competence in customer service and demonstrate an aptitude for dictaphone typing with a high degree of accuracy and a minimum typing speed of 60 words per minute.
Your understanding of confidentiality is paramount, apart from your previous data-entry / admin experience.
This permanent full-time Mt. Wellington based position works 40 hours per week Monday to Friday.
