About the role

The Business Enablement Group's main functions are : developing a portfolio of Technology initiatives that meet business needs, identifying opportunities from partners and other agencies that can be applied to Police, aligning operational priorities, business portfolio management, service delivery management, integrated planning of financial and human resources, and management of key Police ICT enabled Programmes.

Purpose / Objectives of the BPM Role :

  • They are the key point of contact for Police operational units who want to engage with ICT to enable improvements to their business, helping to define business problems and high-level requirements.
  • They are the front door into ICT for initiating technology enabled initiatives, matching requirements to existing technology solutions or investigating innovative new concepts, making it easy for all areas of Police to collaborate with ICT to deliver effective technology solutions that meet business needs.
  • They engage with all Police Executive areas to build relationships and ensure their understanding of business processes and drivers.
  • They bring together a holistic view of Police business and ICT strategies to leverage ideas, identify efficiencies and maximise the benefits of ICT solutions.
  • They foster business confidence and provide the role of trusted advisor' during the pipeline and concept stages of projects, retaining some oversight to the delivery of projects once they are underway.
  • They ensure all relevant areas of ICT are consulted appropriately to provide reliable advice.
  • They maintain relationships with strategic suppliers to keep abreast of developments in other industries and ensure Police future requirements are proactively considered
  • They work collaboratively with peers from other government agencies to share and leverage ideas and identify opportunities for collaboration
  • The successful candidate for this role will have :

  • Good communication skills, including meeting facilitation and presentations
  • Experience of building valuable relationships with all levels and types of stakeholders
  • Knowledge and interest in the use of ICT services and capabilities
  • Be a Strategic thinker
  • Some knowledge of different NZ Police operational business areas
