    Due to this approach, ongoing success and as part of their growth strategy they now have a newly created opportunity for an experienced Farm Systems Consultant.

    You will become a key member of this motivated and collaborative team of rural professionals in consultancy, providing innovative and value adding advice, guidance and expertise across the wider farm consulting areas.

    Working closely with Principal Consultants, you will help deliver superior farming support to many of their loyal customers and other industry stakeholders.

    The role :

  • Collaborating with farmers to design farming systems which enable them to be more environmentally sustainable and achieve catchment reduction targets
  • Providing high-quality consulting services utilising expert knowledge of relevant specialities directly with client base
  • Driving technical innovation through the research, identification and implementation of existing, new and innovative solutions and modelling methodologies
  • Development of and consulting on Farm Environmental Plans (FEPs)
  • Researching, planning, innovating and informing the business on the methodologies, training requirements and QA processes required for high quality delivery
  • Background and Skills :

  • Undergraduate degree in relevant science field; postgraduate specialist degree in science or a farm related discipline
  • Professional experience in environmental, financial, farm systems consulting, or other relevant agricultural fields
  • Well networked in the professional agricultural services sector
  • Working knowledge of farm systems in a New Zealand context
  • Intimate understanding of farmers and a background dealing with multiple farms over a period of time
  • Ideally dry stock / sheep and beef experience
  • Be able to demonstrate an ability to integrate the disciplines of system development, crop rotation planning, cash budgeting, feed budgeting and animal or crop management.
  • Knowledge or training in greenhouse gases (GHG) and / or nutrient management highly advantageous
  • Certifications e.g. Farmax Accreditation or CNMA advantageous but not a must have
  • Sound understanding of environmental legislative and regulatory requirements
  • Advanced theoretical and applied knowledge and skills in farm environmental plans
  • Relationship management skills to assist farmers in strategic planning and succession planning
