This highly successful export business in the Fresh Produce sector is poised to enter another phase of rapid growth. Critical to their success, is a passionate, commercially astute, Head of Sales to lead all sales channels.

Reporting to the Managing Director you will be responsible for both developing and leading the sales strategy, all the while developing and implementing key customer strategies and plans alongside your team.

Working closely with both your growers and customers and maintaining constant awareness of supply and demand, your ability to understand the intricacies of the fresh produce scene will ensure you capitalise on every opportunity.

More specifically as Head of Sales you will be responsible for :

  • Developing and implementing the sales growth strategy and leading the sales planning process
  • Building and maintaining long-term strategic relationships with major retail partners and suppliers
  • Developing and implementing national customer sales initiatives, pricing and promotional strategies
  • Managing the export sales programmes
  • Analysing and understanding the market and customers’ requirements, maximising sales
  • Effectively managing costs and expenditure through the supply chain to improve profitability of the export, grocery and food service channels
  • Leadership and management of the sales team.
  • Your background

    Ideally you will already be a respected player in the New Zealand fresh produce market, and will bring strong, established relationships with key players.

    With solid strategic sales management experience within the NZ FMCG sector (preferably within produce, meat or fisheries) you with have proven experience working with major retailers in the grocery sector.

    Previous experience identifying and securing sales opportunities that have delivered a positive commercial outcome is essential.

    Strategically, you will be able to build a plan and make things happen; growing, developing and coaching your team as you go.

    To succeed in this fast-paced, high-growth environment, you must be innovative, with a high degree of commerciality and an ability to understand and analyse the factors influencing supply and demand in the fresh produce industry.
