  • About the Role

    We are seeking an experienced people leader in this full-time (40 hours / per week as rostered) leadership role at Te Poutama Ārahi Rangatahi.

    To be successful in the role you need to bring leadership experience, be resilient, flexible and be a pro-active person preferably with a social services background.

    Previous experience working in a residential environment would be an advantage.

    Key responsibilities

    The role leads a team of Residential Youth Workers who implement the integrated model of treatment, maintain residential routines and engage high complex needs youth in programmes and educational activities.

    Some of the work can be quite challenging so you will need to have a passion for working with youth, have a positive attitude and exhibit the ability to build strong professional relationships with young people, their whanau / families and staff.

    Skills and experience required

  • relevant professional qualification (preferably social services qualification)
  • previous experience leading / coaching / empowering staff
  • previous experience working in a residential care and / or treatment facility
  • an ability to build and maintain successful, productive professional relationships
  • effective planning, organisational and administrative skills
  • highly skilled computer and keyboard skills
  • excellent communication / relationship skills
  • a strong connection to Te Ao Maori and have a cultural / Te Ao Maori lens
  • a current clean full driver’s licence
  • a 1st Aid Certificate is desirable
