Our Auckland based weighing solutions team are seeking a Senior Firmware Engineer to join them on a full time, permanent basis.
As the engine room of the company, the software team's core responsibility is to ensure that our industry leading products are always ahead of the game and rock-solid.
We regularly collaborate with customers, end-users and other local and international teams to ensure our solutions deliver value to customers.
The Senior Firmware Engineer is responsible for diligently executing design and development processes to develop products, systems, and solutions to meet project specifications for the Trimble Loadrite embedded suite of products.
What we do and how we do it
Maintain the existing shared codebase and build new features, mostly C++ on various embedded operating systems
Ensure that code is covered by unit and functional tests
Liaise with the product and test teams to ensure our code does what we think it does and does what it is supposed to do
Designs and implementations are captured and documented using the Atlassian toolset
Collaborate with other teams to build end-to-end solutions that truly benefit customers - raw analog values on the device through to cloud-based customer reports and recommendations
What you bring to the team
Alongside of being a collaborative team player, the most important elements to being successful in this role will be :
Inquisitive nature, can-do attitude and a desire to learn
Natural problem solver
Good communicator - communicate technical aspects within the team as well as more general discussion with a wider audience
6+ years of industry experience in object-oriented development
Tertiary engineering / computer science degree
Experienced with unit- and automated functional testing
Experience working in an agile environment
Comfortable with source control, Git is our flavor of the decade
Experienced working with embedded toolchains and cross compilers
Having experience with :
Bringing up embedded operating systems on new hardware
Heavy machinery, quarry or aggregates industries
CI systems (Bamboo, Jenkins)
