Our leisure centres play a fundamental role in our goal to get Auckland the most active city in the world. As a lifeguard, you will play a key part in ensuring that all customers not only have a fantastic experience at our pools but a safe one.
This summer we have full-time and part-time opportunities for motivated, customer-focused individuals of all ages to join our pool teams at :
Each of the centres has multiple pools and caters for everyone from toddlers to spa pool users; as well as beginner swimmers through to serious lane swimmers.
Our facilities are PoolSafe accredited, therefore fully qualified lifeguards monitor the pools at all times.
This is a critical role for our busy pools; our lifeguards take on a much greater responsibility than just supervising the swimming pools.
The lifeguard plays a critical part in ensuring a safe, prevention focussed environment for our customers to enjoy.
He kōrero mōu : About you
We are looking for approachable, reliable, people who can think critically with a keen safety focus while having fun.
You will need to be a confident swimmer with effective communication skills, great initiative, resilience, and an interest in community wellbeing.
You will be required to work a variety of shifts from Monday to Sunday, with a range of shift times covering from 5.30 am through to 10 pm.
Commitment to cover these shifts is essential, as is flexibility to work at short notice.

Your safety is our priority. While we continue in Alert Level 3 and 4, our centres will remain closed. In the meantime, we’ll be conducting virtual interviews and will complete practical assessments once centres reopen.
If you are successful, you will attend a two-week induction training programme which will result in a Pool Lifeguard Skills Award and a Pool Lifeguard Practice Certificate (check Skills Active website if you qualify to train), through which you will be able to demonstrate the following skills :
Having a First Aid certificate is very advantageous however if you do not have a qualification, First Aid training will be included in your training.
Alert level permitting, Summer jobs will begin on 8 or 15 November 2021 and end on 27 February 2022. Induction and training will take place in the first two weeks.
