About this role

The Ministry is prioritising engagement with its many stakeholders as we tackle large, transformational pieces of work including resource management reform, climate change, and water policy.

We are looking for a number of experienced Senior Engagement Advisors to support us with our engagement across exciting national work programmes.

You will be responsible for gathering national and regional perspectives to understand stakeholders' priorities and create connections with MfE's work.

This includes informing and collaborating with others on MfE's work, and tracking and reporting on key engagement activities and responsibilities.

You will be part of the Engagement Team that owns the framework, strategy and plans that shape how Ministry teams engage well.

The team provides best practice advice, lifts engagement capability across the Ministry, and sets standards for excellence.

It ensures engagements are joined up, coordinated and information is shared.

You will have a good understanding of stakeholders' priorities and perspectives, be able to network to make connections across the Ministry's broad and complex work programme, taking a one-MFE approach.

We want to hear from you if you :

  • have significant engagement experience
  • are familiar with central and local government
  • have a good understanding of current environmental issues
  • have a good understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and Te Ao Māori
  • are commited to developing your cultural capability and capacity in te ao Māori
  • It would be advantageous if you have :

  • the IAP2 qualification or similar
  • a background in engagement or working in the community sector
