0.8-0.9 FTE : Temporary position or secondment We are seeking a highly motivated registered nurse to join the MidCentral Health Specialist Diabetes and Endocrinology Service Team as a Clinical Nurse Specialist for a temporary position for up to one year from 9 November 2020 to cover parental leave until November 2021.

The Clinical Nurse Specialist Diabetes will function within the specialty of diabetes providing clinical expertise and nursing leadership in acute and specialist services across primary and secondary care practice settings.

This provides expert diabetes care to people with diabetes across the lifespan. The Service covers the MDHB region so travel may be a component of the role.

You will be a registered nurse who :

  • Meets Level 4 of the local Professional Development Recognition Programme (Level 3 working towards Level 4 will be considered),
  • Has completed relevant postgraduate papers, minimum post graduate diploma and preferably a Masters in Nursing,
  • Can demonstrate capability to meet Proficient Diabetes Nurse’ on the National Diabetes Knowledge and Skills Framework (2018).
  • Experience in diabetes care is preferred and knowledge of the local community and health care providers will be an advantage.

    General Information

    MidCentral District Health Board employs more than 2500 staff at Manawatu, Palmerston North, Tararua and Horowhenua and Otaki districts.

    Palmerston North Hospital is a 350 bed secondary hospital, which services an urban population of 80,000 and a total population catchment of 168,000.

    In addition, the hospital is a teaching hospital, and is associated with both Auckland and Otago medical schools.

    Palmerston North is a major university city and is at the hub of key routes to the central North Island ski fields, and river adventures.

    Wellington the capital city, is only a two hour journey by road, as are the wine growing regions of Hawke's Bay and Wairarapa.
