The role purpose :
The role of the Spare Parts Interpreter is to perform a range of tasks including the interpretation of correct parts required by the customer, as well as order parts from suppliers, preparing and processing documents such as parts requisition orders, invoices and inventory documents.
Primary and Secondary duties :
Using specialist knowledge, interpret customer part requirements via phone or counter.
Perform a range of tasks including the receipt, storage and delivery of spare parts and accessories.
Order parts from suppliers, preparing and processing documents such as parts requisition orders, invoices and inventory documents.
Process cash / credit transactions, calculating tax, discounts and prices accurately. Prepare invoices and other finance arrangements for the sale of stock in a timely manner.
Examine returned part to determine if defective, and arrange modifications, parts exchange part or payment refunds in accordance with Company policy.
Process, pack, return and report on parts warranty claims in a timely and accurate manner.
Participate in stocktaking (regular checking and valuing of goods) and update computer data, as required.
Consult with supervisor / manager regarding changes to pricing and provide appropriate information to management and / or sales representatives regarding sales opportunities.
Set up merchandising displays, recommend additional related products to customers, and promote current advertised specials to all telephone and counter customers.
Establish and maintain interpersonal relationships to work in a constructive and cooperative manner.
Comply with company policies, procedures and guidelines and take corrective action when necessary in the performance of daily tasks.
Undertake other tasks as directed or that may develop due to the changing aspects of the role.
Assist in other parts areas, such as dispatch and warehouse when required to do so
Education / Qualifications :
Relevant Certificate and / or Trade qualification
Essential experience and skills :
Good working knowledge of and experience with truck and trailer products and services.
Good communication, customer service and sales skills, including excellent telephone manner.
Knowledge of computerised parts processing systems or the ability to acquire such knowledge.
Current Drivers License.
