We are seeking a fulltime Project Engineer in the Wairarapa flood protection team based in our Mastertonoffice.

About the role :
The Project Engineer willassist with the investigation, design and construction of new flood protectionassets in the Wairarapa Area.
They will help plan and deliver large packages oftargeted maintenance work to improve flood protection resilience. Delivery ofthis work will be undertaken using both contractors and internal field staff.
The role is also responsible for managing all aspects of thegravity and pumped drainage schemes throughout the Wairarapa.
All project and maintenance work will be undertaken withfull consideration to the environmental effect and in many cases the mainobjective will be to improve on the environmental outcome with a focus on waterquality.
Responding to public enquiries and providing flood hazardinformation is also a key part of the role.
Skills and experiencerequired :
The ideal candidate will beskilled in project management, planning and programming including reporting onproject status.
A high level of computer literacy is also required.
Strongverbal and written communication skills and the ability to work in a friendlyand cooperative manner, in close association with staff and the community isalso required.
Youwill also need :
An engineering qualification in civil ornatural resources.
Relevant practical skills in rivers anddrainage or related civil fields.
Able to assess environmental and sociologicaleffects.
