About the Role

As a Biodiversity Ranger you will be responsible for undertaking work to protect threatened freshwater fauna and habitats.

You will contribute to the planning, delivery, and reporting of tasks in threatened freshwater species monitoring and management as well as pest plant control.

This role will require periods of work away from home. The role will also supervise, and mentor temporary staff employed to assist with your work.

It is essential for the person in this role to have a very strong commitment to health and safety.

He kōrero mōu : What we are looking for

We are looking for a highly motivated team member who has skills and or experience in :

  • Threatened freshwater species management
  • Pest plant and predator control
  • Contractor management
  • Data collection and management skills
  • Computer, GPS and mobile phone literacy
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with landowners
  • Small Boat operation and maintenance experience
  • Boat masters / Day Skipper's certification
  • The successful applicant will ideally have :

  • Current first aid certificate
  • Current Growsafe certificate
  • Electric fishing certification
  • A full driver's licence and experience operating 4WD vehicles
  • An STMS certification would be advantageous but not necessary.
