Required skills : Applicants must be fluent with Solidworks and basic AutoCad. With Solidworks specifically, we use Weldments and Sheetmetal modules, by mastering these two you will be confident to achieve most of what is required from the CAD modelling perspective.

At least 5 years’ experience with shop drawing drafting is a must, preferably more.Ability to read construction drawings, understanding drawing registers and how to find or where to look for the necessary information to start the drafting process.

Lack of details on client’s drawings requires attention to detail and utilizing your creativity to produce design solutions for solving detailing problems.

Technically minded people will thrive at this work because it offers a lot of design freedom which is only limited to one’s manufacturing knowledge, which constantly grows with experience.

Comfortable working within a small office team, particularly discussing ideas, solutions for best manufacturing and installation direction.

Help estimate required work hours for quoting purposes only.Understanding NZ building code requirements.Ability to read / write Aconex correspondences can be learned through use.

MS office.Effective communication with clients and staff.Workshop experience preferredGreat communications skills both written and oral.

Responsibilities : Preparation of shop drawings from client’s construction / architectural drawings and submission for client’s approval.

Preparation of laser cut ’profile / DXF’’ drawings for laser cutting, liaison with suppliers for manufacture.Occasional site measures.

Maintaining drawing archives and utilizing existing libraries of past jobs to improve design efficiency.Liaising with shop floor staff to provide detailed drawings to allow accurate fabrication.

Liaising with the Manager and workshop supervisory staff to ensure an efficient flow of information to the shop floor, prioritization of jobs and compliance with project timelines.

Liaising with workshop supervisory staff to ensure quality standards are met.Assisting Estimator & Project Management staff with materials take-offs for pricing and ordering.

Average daily / weekly duties : Fabrication drawing, approval drawings, purchasing and assist with quoting / estimating.We use an internal IT system for storing / quoting / purchasing / managing jobs which requires some adjusting for Solidworks workflow.

We also have an experienced Solidworks mentor will be available for smoother transition.Full time position with an immediate startPay salary $70-$80 as per experience & qualificationsApplicants for this position should have NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa.
