    About us

    Our talented team of clinical coders deliver accurate, thorough information for the health of our region. We are looking for an enthusiastic clinical coder or trainee clinical coder to join our supportive team of nine.

    About the opportunity

    You will be responsible for identifying and translating inpatient medical procedures, interventions and diagnoses into code using various systems such as ICD 10-AM 11th Edition (and any subsequent editions), the Australian Coding Standards (ACS) and the Australian Classification of Health Interventions (ACHI).

    You will gain a real sense of satisfaction in contributing to monthly and yearly reporting deadlines for the Southern DHB and the Ministry of Health, working closely with your team and other staff within the Southern DHB.

    If you do not hold a formal coding qualification, we will offer excellent 1 : 1 training and support to help you achieve this.

    The role is a full-time opportunity working between Monday-Friday and based at Dunedin Hospital.

    About you

    The successful applicant will preferably have coded in ICD-10-AM 11th Edition, and ideally hold (or be studying towards) a HIMAA Clinical Coding qualification and will therefore have some understanding of the requirements of clinical coding within a health environment.

  • Other essential requirements include a commitment to quality, achievement of excellence and the ability to apply in practice what is learned in theory, with a common sense approach to problem solving.

    If you fit the criteria above and are enthusiastic about Clinical Coding, but do not have a formal coding qualification, we want to hear from you.

    Salary will be based on qualifications and experience in line with PSA South Island Administrative MECA Clinical Coder scale.
