Due to an internal promotion we have a vacant Dairy Production Manager position at Dairy Blairs Dairy Unit is located in the Dobson area of the West Coast.
We milk 800 cows in a rotary 60 bail cow shed. The farm is a humped and hollowed terrain of 450 ha and 435 ha effective with an in-shed feeding / Milkhub SystemOn a daily basis, you’ll work the farm manager to map out the duties that need to get done and you'll manage your staff to ensure that the work is completed on time and to a high standard, this means assisting keeping the milking shed and farm presentable.
You'll develop your animal husbandry and pasture management under the coaching of the manager. This is a working role where you will be actively managing staff, supporting the farm manager, and standing in for the manager when he's off the farm, so it's a great opportunity to trial you leadership skills.
Being a senior leader on farm you will be expected to be the champion for Pāmu's animal welfare standards and our five Health and Safety expectations.
The team has a good atmosphere, enjoying a good laugh and also knowing when to get out and get the work done. We’re part of the Pāmu Weka Dairy Complex on the west coast and we have group raft trips, Christmas parties, etc.
There’s a strong community feel in the West Coast Dairy team. This farm runs a 6 / 2 from August to the New Year roster during the peak season and goes to a 6 / 3 roster for the rest of the year.
The West Coast’s beaches are right on our doorstep. With plenty of good fishing in the local rivers and hunting available right on our farm, there’s no shortage of recreation to keep you busy.
Accommodation will be provided which comes with a 3 Bedroom home. School bus stops near the farm gate for the local primary school and high school.
