The Principal Project manager in Enablement will be required to lead project teams of subject matter experts (SMEs) to deliver complex business projects through the application of project management principles, techniques and processes.
The role will involve working with the Integrated Network's Enablement Leadership team and Project Directors across the Integrated Networks division for specific projects, liaise with other departments and where applicable support project sponsors of major new investment initiatives.
Two initial projects that will be a major focus are the in flight Rail Franchise tender and the forthcoming Ferries procurement.
Key Tasks will include :
Working with respective project teams and SMEs with service, scope and specification development, contract form and commercial framework development, procurement strategy development and the subsequent tendering and appointment processes.
Ensure that risks are effectively managed, and that budgets and projects are appropriately coordinated and performance is regularly reported
To coach and mentor others in project teams to raise the overall skill profile of the team.
To ensure that Auckland Transport's project management guidelines and requirements are followed and maintained for all the assigned projects.
To effectively manage the use of internal and external resources to achieve optimum project outcomes that will enable delivery to commence on programme with a strong certainty of outturn cost.
We are seeking from you the following skills :
A relevant tertiary or industry recognised qualification or experienced level in project management as above.
Ideally PMP, PRINCE 2 Practitioner accreditation or similar (5 years+).
Minimum 15 years of project management and project delivery experience, preferably in Public Transport and / or transport infrastructure or other infrastructure delivery
Experience in the successful delivery of large projects in a project management role with proven project management track record
Knowledge of the transport sector and infrastructure sector in general
Experience in gathering and documenting business requirements and business processes
