Transpower owns and operates New Zealand's National Grid - the unique High Voltage transmission network connecting areas of generation with towns and cities across New Zealand.
With a whole-of-industry view of the electricity sector, we are at the forefront of the country's pending electricity transformation.
Our team is working hard to enable accelerated electrification, and a sustainable net carbon zero future.
About the team
Our Operations division works close to the action of operating the grid. The various teams work together to support our Control Centres by facilitating operations and decision-making for outages on the grid, managing the electricity market, as well as managing the tools which we use to observe and control the electricity market system.
The Outage Planning team works across the organisation and with Service Providers and our connected customers to schedule, coordinate outages on the grid, to enable maintenance and project work to be performed.
About the opportunity
We are seeking an Outage Planner to join the team in any of our 5 locations - Auckland, Hamilton, Palmerston North, Wellington or Christchurch.
As a central point of contact for Project Managers, Service Delivery Managers, Service Performance Managers, Service Providers and customers you will coordinate outages on the national grid while ensuring that customer requirements are understood.
Your highly developed communication skills will help you to build productive relationships, provide insights, recognise opportunities and issues within the outage plan, and work with wider teams to highlight and resolve any problems.
About you
Coming from a technical engineering environment you're a quick learner and problem solver who enjoys pulling pieces of a complex puzzle together to get a clear understanding of availability, time frames and other outage requirements.
You have a calm, measured approach to negotiation and problem resolution to optimise outage coordination, and are comfortable manipulating and analysing data, as well as presenting information to a variety of audiences.
As a naturally curious person you enjoy finding opportunities to improve performance and support the implementation of continuous improvement processes for new and existing services.
What's not to love about this role! You'll have multiple touch points and develop your relationship management skills whilst deepening your understanding of this rapidly evolving and exciting industry.
You'll be empowered to act and bring solutions to the table.
