Auckland City, AucklandWe are seeking student volunteers for Aotearoa Mindfulness and Awareness (AMA) a wellness course that is offered across Auckland - to GP and clinician referred, registered patients of Tamaki Health.
We have vacancies available in the following locations : Manukau, Otara, Mangere, HendersonAMA is a six week, 2.5 hours per session, highly experiential, mindfulness meditation based programme (MMBP) adapted from Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT).
Trans-diagnostic and trauma-sensitive, AMA integrates the universal wisdom of mindfulness meditation with current and relevant psychological teachings.
AMA assists participants to establish a personal mindfulness practise, to manage both mental and physical health concerns, respond wisely to difficult circumstances, and to grow in self- awareness, self-compassion, and resilience.
This role is voluntary and UNPAID. Student volunteers can however, participate in the course for free, receive a reference and addition to their CV.
Students may return to the course (upon graduation) for their continuing self development. Applicants should be willing to commit to 3.
5 hours per week for 6 weeks (the duration of the course). As volunteers play a critical role in the provision of AMA, in applying please consider your ability to follow through with this commitment.
Day and evening sessions are available.AMA is open 3rd year & post grad students of the following disciplines : Health Science, Public Health, Nursing, Counselling, Psychotherapy, Psychology, Social Work, Medical, OT & Physiotherapy.
Tasks involve assisting the Mindfulness Educator to setup / packup for the session (tea / chairs), welcome participants, attend to any participant needs during the teaching.Apply today for more info!
