Te Mana Whakamaru Tamariki Motuhake, the Independent Children’s Monitor, monitors the Oranga Tamariki System, highlighting areas that will drive continuous improvement and support improving outcomes for children and young people, particularly tamariki Māori.

Our review, analysis and reporting provides regular, robust and independent insights on the performance of the System to a range of audiences including Ministers, government agencies, iwi, non-government agencies, whānau and individuals.

    The Independent Children’s Monitor (the Monitor) provides independent oversight, monitoring those organisations that have custody and care of tamariki (children) and rangatahi (youth) with a focus on supporting improved outcomes for tamariki, rangatahi and their whānau.

    Our Lead Advisor Learning and Development is a critical role, with responsibility for leading the creation of capability training for our front-line team, that is well-informed and meets business needs.

    You will work in partnership with the Manager Performance, Policy and Practice; subject matter experts; colleagues and learners across the organisation.

    The Lead Advisor supports capability development by :

  • Identifying the current and future needs of the business and ensuring this is reflected in learning strategies, frameworks, programmes and solutions
  • Designing, developing, managing and implementing best practice learning services and programmes
  • Defining any gaps in existing learning and development initiatives
  • Using your experience and knowledge to embed child-centred practices
  • We’re keen that you will have a strengths-based approach to your work. You’ll be someone who can easily conceptualise and formulate plans and actions.

    Your strong interpersonal and communication skills will enable you to be successful in this role.
