  • The Verification and Compliance Branch is seeking applications for an opportunities to utilise their skills and knowledge (preferably from an INZ environment) in a Business Advisor or Business Analyst role within Risk and Verification team.

    Based in Wellington, the team is both dynamic and varied in nature, so these positions would suit energetic applicants with superb analytical and communication skills who like covering a range of issues.

    Business Advisor

    The Business Advisor is responsible for delivering business advisory service and operational support to the V&C leadership team to ensure quality and consistent advice and practices are executed.

    Our work is varied in nature, so this position will suit an energetic person with current immigration operational knowledge who likes covering a range of issues.

    To be successful in this role you will need to have outstanding communication skills (especially written), and a strong ability to build and maintain effective working relationships.

    You must be able to identify sensitive and developing issues, formulate solutions, and have outstanding organisational skills.

    To achieve these objectives you will have demonstrated :

  • Monitoring and escalating developing issues
  • Process management of Ministerial correspondence including OIA's and Parliamentary Questions
  • Working with dynamic priorities and to tight deadlines
  • Providing advice on operational issues to Senior managers
  • Developing a highly effective network of relationships within and outside MBIE
  • The Business Analyst

    The Business Analyst supports the Risk and Verification Leadership Team, by participating and contributing to the collation of information and analysis of issues affecting the immigration risk management within the INZ operating model.

    As a key member of the R&V Team, the Business Analyst is expected to participate in and contribute to quality and improvement initiatives relating to INZ, the R&V work programme, individual projects.

    To achieve these objectives you will have demonstrated :

  • A high standard of written English, and excellent communication skills.
  • Knowledge and experience of business analysis work including working with impact analysis, options development tools and methodologies.
  • Ability to use computer software packages including project management, word processing and analytical tools.
  • Ability to work with numbers and cost out options to support recommendations with quantitative data.
  • Knowledge of statistics / sampling techniques
  • Excellent communications, self-management and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to clearly present analysis and ideas on paper.
  • Knowledge of the Immigration New Zealand operating environment, in particular the quality systems within the INZ operating model would be desirable
  • Some SAS skills would also be desirable.
