The role Mō te tūngaWe are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated leader to join our Field Collections team. The role of a Local Area Leader (LAL) sits within the Collection Operations branch of Statistics NZ.

As a Local Area Leader, you will be responsible for leading a team of Survey Interviewers who are the face of Stats NZ in dealing with households and businesses.

This is a hands-on, highly engaging role where you can utilise your strong leadership and motivational skills to help your team be the best they can be.

Your professional approach will provide invaluable support to your manager, colleagues and team alike. Your positive, flexible, enthusiastic attitude, and willingness to participate proactively, will make you a key member of our team.

Your broad role as a Local Area Leader will see you : Empower your team to meet targetsLead day to day operationsProvide strong and fair leadershipDevelop yourself and othersUndertake survey interviewingCommunicate effectively when working remotelyDemonstrate a proactive awareness of Health and Safety in the workplaceThis role will include a combination of evening and weekend work to support your team.

Starting salary : $65000About you MōuExperience in leading a highly motivated and effective teamExperience in communicating at multiple levels within an organisationHave extensive people skills, life skills and work experience to deliver in a role that operates with high autonomy, needing discretion and judgementExperience in successfully supporting training delivery and / or coaching othersAn ability to think outside the square and a can-do attitudeExcellent written and verbal communication skills, and competent Excel / Word skillsA passion for change and the ability to use it as an opportunity to improveKnowledge / familiarity or a commitment to learn / understand Te Ao Maori, including ensuring opportunities at Stats NZ reach the Maori community.
