Chief Advisor Dangerous Goods Company description The Civil Aviation Authority and the Aviation Security Service offer distinctively different career opportunities and embrace diverse talent All jobs at the Authority contribute to ensuring safe and secure skies to help New Zealand fly The Civil Aviation Authority is the regulatory arm of our organisation and the Aviation Security Service is the nationwide provider for aviation security Job description About us We re a Crown entity responsible for the safety and security of New Zealand s civil aviation system There are two parts to our business the regulatory arm Civil Aviation Authority which is responsible for the safety oversight of the civil aviation system and the security arm Aviation Security Service who you would have met if you ve travelled by plane in New Zealand We have a strong commitment to achieve Safer Skies and have a unique opportunity for you to help accomplish this About the role Reporting to the Manager Licensing and Standards the Chief Advisor Dangerous Goods is a pivotal and critical role within CAA This newly created role will sit alongside three other Chief Advisors within the Aviation Safety Group This is a rare and exciting opportunity to influence to the most senior levels of both CAA as well as external organisations The Chief Advisor Dangerous Goods will provide input guidance and expert advice to operations staff when dealing with regulatory matters related to the management carriage and storage of dangerous goods in aviation This Chief Advisor will contribute to various regulatory functions around dangerous goods including inspection and investigation They will also assist with decisionmaking on matters relating to following dangerous goods regulatory and legislative requirements within aviation About you Some of the attributes and skillsets we are looking for are Indepth understanding of and seniorlevel experience in regulatory and legislative framework applying to the management storage and carriage of dangerous goods ideally within aviation Understanding of the functions and role of regulatory agencies You will have a keen analytical mind with a wellhoned ability to critically analyse and interpret complex information This role would suit a natural relationship developer Strong stakeholder engagement skills of both internal and external groups and the ability to effectively influence persuade and build credibility at all levels of organisations is essential Why this roleThe Chief Advisor Dangerous Goods is an exciting opportunity to become CAA s technical expert and gotoperson for matters around Dangerous Goods This is a rare chance to work as an SME within an organisation where safety is paramount and touches on everything we do as an organisation Why CAAOur employees enjoy benefits including 4 Kiwisaver employee contributions and discounted health insurance premiums Our Wellington offices are centrally located modern and well equipped The Authority embraces diversity and is committed to an inclusive and respectful workplace where everyone is valued for their unique contribution To view the position description please click here Applications close Sunday 28th March 2020
