Clinical Psychologist - Forensic Mental Health Service
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Psychologist to join the Regional Forensic Mental Health Service based at Wakari Hospital, on a permanent part-time basis.
The service comprises a 13 bedded medium secure inpatient unit and a community services that provides consultation and liaison with the Courts, Prisons, Justice Services and follow up treatment for community clients.
Clients are between ages of 17 and 65 years and may be charged with or alleged to have committed a criminal offence and have a known or suspected mental illness.
The successful applicant will have sound knowledge of Clinical psychology assessment and interventions, with relevance to the Forensic Mental Health setting and be experienced in working as an autonomous professional as well as working with patients on individual and group settings.
The role comprises writing reports for the District Courts, Corrections / Prison Services and other mental health services.
The successful applicant will possess excellent writing skills in the context of providing assessment and treatment services to clients, the courts and / or prisons and, engaging and working with families / whanau / significant others and other health professionals.
The Clinical Psychologist is an integral and valued member of the multidisciplinary team responsible for the provision of patient-centred interventions.
To be considered for this role you will be a New Zealand Registered Psychologist, registered in the Vocational Scope Clinical Psychology, hold a current practising certificate and have a recognised qualification in Clinical Psychology, (i.
e. a New Zealand Diploma in Clinical Psychology or overseas equivalent)
