He angitūtanga : The opportunity

We have an opportunity for a Policy Planner to take their interest and experience in planning to the next level in this engaging and varied role.

By joining our team of experts in the Plans and Places department, you will :

  • evaluate and monitor the Auckland Unitary Plan
  • participate in the development of public plan changes
  • manage the assessment and reporting on private plan changes, variations, notices of requirement and appeals.
  • participate and support the development of spatial plans by partnering with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • This role will require a strong focus on continuous improvement and the ability to deal with complex planning issues.

    He kōrero mōu : About you

  • With a passion for policy, statutory and spatial planning you’ll bring with you;
  • a degree qualification or higher and at least 2 years’ experience in planning and resource management
  • a robust understanding of the Resource Management Act is essential
  • a statutory planning background and prior experience either preparing or reporting on plan changes or notices of requirement
  • understand the need for good financial and project management of the projects you might be involved in or lead.
  • be familiar with Council’s responsibilities under Te Tiriti o Waitangi and have some knowledge of te ao Māori.
  • As this role might require you to travel around the region using Council vehicles, you’ll ideally hold a valid New Zealand driver’s license.
