The opportunity

Due to internal promotion, we're on the hunt for a new Category Specialist (Horticulture) to join our merchandising team! Horticulture is a growth category at Farmlands and it is an exciting time to join our growing team.

The day to day involves :

  • Category management of small / sub-categories
  • Vendor positioning and negotiation
  • Briefing of promotions
  • Close interaction with the supply chain to optimise delivery inventory management and ordering
  • Assisting with formulating the category strategy

  • About you

    You may be a Category Assistant interested in stepping up a level, or already in a Category Specialist role and wanting to fast track your career.

    You could come from retail or a pricing team and understand the general principles of merchandising.

    You'll pick things up quickly, make connections, and have an interest in the strategy. Analytical and inquisitive, you'll be engaged and ask questions.

    You'll also :

  • Be a super organised self-starter who manages deadlines
  • Have superb people skills and the ability to network and negotiate with suppliers
  • Be proficient in MS Excel and quick to pick up new systems
  • Have enthusiasm for working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Ideally, you'll have experience or an interest in horticulture, but great attitude and a willingness to learn is more important!
