Have you considered working for the Auckland Kindergarten Association (AKA) a professional, friendly and supportive workplace that offers the intrinsic reward of working for a well-respected charitable organisation?
We may have just what you are looking for with a variety of permanent part time, full time, relieving and leadership roles to support our dedicated and passionate teaching teams in various Kindergartens across Auckland.
Who we are
Auckland Kindergarten Association is a not-for profit organisation, which has a long history in New Zealand in the Early Childhood Education sector, having been established in 1908 with the opening of our kindergarten at Freemans Bay.
We now have 107 kindergartens and four KiNZ centres, supported by our shared services staff at our office in Queen Street, forming our organisation, with a total of just under 1000 staff.
Ours is a bicultural environment, where the learning framework of Te Whāriki underpins all we do, and where the good of our tamariki (children) and their whānau (family) sits at the very heart of our organisation.
Our kindergartens offer quality Early Childhood Education (ECE) that is inclusive of the diversity of children, parents and whānau that attend.
Our Auckland-wide network of kindergartens are magical places where young Aucklanders get the very best start to prepare for school and beyond - building the foundations for a lifetime of learning.
AKA has a reputation for excellence and the opportunities to extend oneself through professional development are second to none.
I enjoy the support I receive from this organisation to enable staff to carry out their roles in the best way possible. At the AKA, we are encouraged to challenge the way in which we can better do things within the organisation - to improve systems and thus become more efficient, to think outside the box ".
The Auckland Kindergarten Association is an awesome employer and has far exceeded my expectations. Working for the AKA has enabled me to progress my career further than I ever thought I would, through providing me with opportunities to grow and trusting that I was the right person for the job.
Here at the AKA, I am able to showcase my passions - teaching and learning, bi-cultural practice and Enviroschools"
Kindergarten is unique in that it has clear defined contact times and dedicated time for considered set ups and non-contact / documentation every single day.
This allows you as a teacher to whole heartedly immerse yourself in play-based learning with the tamariki.
It is a privilege to work in a small close-knit team, to establish strong trusting relationships with shared visions for excellent education outcomes for children.
There is time and opportunities to share successes daily, and plan for and work on challenges together to make positive change ."
