About the Role
Animal Services plays an important role in our community, ensuring that appropriate interventions and dog control activities are in line with our policies.
This is a front facing leadership role where you will be tasked with the management of the animal services teams in Lower Hutt and Wellington and from time to time represent the Hutt City Council when called on to speak to media.
You will also be the go to person for customers and work with your team to enhance the customer experience.
We have a passionate team of animal services people who you will be leading. This is a team you can work closely with to foster a great team spirit.
You will be able to draw on the strengths of others to lead and empower a culture of continuous improvement and problem solving.
As leader you will be responsible for budgets, hold the service to a high standard in accordance with Council business plans, and performance targets.
You will also be responsible for the operation of animal services activities, and will ensure that the activities are aligned with the strategic direction of the Council.
This role will draw on your ability to inspire people to be their best along with your good understanding of court procedures and the legal system.
It is important that you possess excellent communication skills and be skilled at organising and managing resources.
