About the role :
Supporting the finance department, financial controller, and management team by completing routine clerical and accounting tasks.
Preparing budgets, maintaining reports, and completing basic bookkeeping and accounting duties for the company.
Reporting directly to the Financial Controller, you will have primary day to day responsibility for the following :
Assistant Accountant Job Duties :
Preparing financial documents such as invoices, bills, and accounts payable and receivable
Completing financial reports on a regular basis and providing information to the finance team
Assisting with budgets
Completing bank reconciliations
Entering financial information into appropriate software programs
Managing company ledgers
Processing business expenses
Coordinating internal and external audits
Verifying balances in account books and rectifying discrepancies
Managing day-to-day transactions
Recording office expenditures and ensuring these expenses are within the set budget
Assisting the finance department and senior accounting staff members with various tasks, including preparing budgets, records, and statements
Reporting on debtors and creditors
Handling accruals and prepayments
Managing monthly budgeting tasks
Encoding accounting entries for data processing
Reviewing computer reports for accuracy and meticulously tracing errors back to their source
The following are 'must haves' for this role :
3 years plus experience in a similar type of role
Accounting degree or working towards a degree.
A hardworking, organised, flexible and driven individual with proven ability to handle a busy role and competing deadlines
Excellent time management with a track record of dealing with competing priorities
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
High attention to detail is a must
Be familiar or ideally proficient with MYOB AccountRight
Be familiar with Ipayroll system or similar.
