We call it our Westpac Way of Working.About the role : As the Chief Information Security Officer you will be responsible for leading Westpac New Zealand’s strategic direction, developing functional security strategies and managing all aspects of information security in accordance with the bank’s security policy, business requirements and risk appetite for the long term benefit of our customers and shareholders.
The complexity of this position requires a leadership approach that is engaging and approachable, with a sophisticated ability to work with all levels in the organisation.
The Chief Information Security Officer has a deep knowledge of and maintains a natural desire to stay current on emerging information security threats, technology and other related developments.
Being an inspiring and motivational leader will also be essential in this role, ensuring Information Security Group teams across the organisation feel valued and supported.
The opportunityThe successful candidate will be an experienced information security leader that reports to the Westpac New Zealand’s Deputy Chief Information Officer (DCIO) and works closely with Westpac Group Chief Information Security Officer as well as senior leaders across the business.
You will deliver an extensive set of security policies, strategy and supporting management procedures that consider the effect of evolving cyber threats, laws, regulations and industry best practices on our organisation and customers.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal and collaborative skills, and the ability to communicate security and risk-related concepts to technical and non-technical audiences are essential qualities.
What you need to succeed : Extensive experience in Information Security, Information Technology, Risk Management, Audit or an equivalent roleSeveral years’ experience managing a team of IT, security or operational risk professionalsSolid knowledge and understanding of international security and risk-related standards or frameworks, including SABSA, ISO-27000 series, ISO 31000Knowledge of regulatory bodies and the ability to represent Westpac to these when requiredUnderstanding of financial services industry highly desirableFormal education or certification in information security, information technology, risk management, audit or equivalent disciplineIndustry certifications (CISSP, CISM, SABSA) desirableIndustry connections to support collaboration of threats to New ZealandWork collaboratively both across both technology operations and delivery squads to deliver organisational security outcomesWe want everyone who works here to love coming to work because they feel empowered and feel they are making a difference.
