Overview of the roleBased at Glenbrook and reporting to the Health & Safety Manager New Zealand and Pacific Islands, you will provide health and safety advice within the prescribed area of responsibility at New Zealand Steel and work on the delivery of agreed plans and goals with an overall focus on improving and then sustaining the wellbeing and safety of our employees.

Key focus areas for this role include : Continuous improvement of the safety culture within the prescribed plant of responsibility at New Zealand SteelProviding expert advice to business leaders on all elements of the health and safety function.

Ensure the implementation of the NZPI Health and Safety business plan and strategy.Development and implementation of continuous improvement programmes in conjunction with Health and Safety Manager NZPIShare responsibility with Health and Safety Manager NZPI in accountability to achieve a zero-

harm workplaceEnsuring compliance to Legislative and BlueScope Corporate requirementsEnsuring alignment between the wider NZPI business and on matters of Health and SafetyAbout the personWe are looking for someone who is passionate about health and safety, who is agile and can shift between strategy and operational as required.

You will have the vigor that drives and thrives in a busy fast paced environment. You will have demonstrated strength and proven success with engaging and influencing people to enable continuous improvement and change towards a positive safety culture.

More about you;A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a role which includes exposure to Health & Safety Management SystemsA relevant qualification and working knowledge of the Health & Safety at Work Act 2015Process Safety experience in Heavy Industry or Oil and GasExperience in Engineering controls / Engineering backgroundAn innovative and energetic approach to Health & Safety engagementExceptional communication and interpersonal skillsDemonstrated ability to build effective relationships and influence changeExperience and knowledge in Behavioural Safety & Human FactorsIncident Investigation skillsBeing part of the BlueScope brand makes us a strong and successful global company offering connections throughout the world, and providing access to resources and tools from the wider business.
