    Medirest is our healthcare brand providing specialist food, hospitality and support services to residents and patients in hospitals, aged care and senior living facilities throughout New Zealand.

    About the role and who we are looking for :

    We are looking for an experienced, qualified Chef Manager to run our Senior Living site in Mount Maunganui. Hours of work are full-time, Monday to Friday and some weekends as required.

    What would you be expected to do :

    The Food : Looking after the food service for around 75 residents which will expand to 110 residents over the next couple of months.

    Ensuring the quality of every dish we serve! Order supplies, hands-on cooking, menu development, allergen and nutrition management.

    Maintaining dietary requirements for the residents.

    The Business : Making sure the site runs within budget (or better than budget!), entering payroll, processing invoices, stock take and month end processes.

    This role requires a person who is computer literate, operating Compass Group systems - familiar with Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel.

    The People : Managing, developing and training a team of 4 staff on a daily roster to grow capability and a positive team environment as well as managing staff rosters.

    Customer Service : A strong focus on exceptional service and communication to the residents and client, always displaying a friendly, helpful, supportive approach.

    The Safety : Health and Safety and food safety are a major task in this role, making sure our people get home safely and our consumers are safe every day by ensuring the site is compliant with health and safety and food safety practices.

    Ideal skills and experience you will have :

    If you're our ideal candidate you will be a strong and fair team leader and player, have great communication skills, have high standards in personal presentation, are well organised with a friendly outgoing personality and a 'can do' attitude.

    We are looking for an energetic, self-motivated person who can work independently and make thoughtful decisions, with a friendly, supporting attitude towards work colleagues and residents and a helpful, coaching personality.

    Some experience and knowledge in New Zealand Cuisine, bulk food cooking and baking aswell as experience in fortified foods and special dietary requirements is an advantage.

    You will be familiar with food safety and health and safety standards and able to manage and maintain the company compliance program independently.

    You will have at least 5 years' experience working as a Chef in a commercial kitchen, have management experience and be computer savvy.

    Ideally you will hold food safety certificates (Unit Standard 167 and 168) but most importantly you will demonstrate a passion for great food, customer service and quality!
