LabPLUS is an IANZ accredited medical laboratory and is one of New Zealand's premier laboratories. LabPLUS are part of the state-
owned Auckland District Health Board. We offer a comprehensive pathology service for Auckland City Hospital, Starship Children’s Hospital, National Women's Health, and the Greenlane Clinical Centre.

About the department :
Our Clinical Microbiology Laboratory provides a wide range of services including sexual health screening, enteric pathogens, to multiple resistant organisms.
We are also the national reference centre for Mycology, Anaerobes, and molecular typing of Mycobacteria.
Our Microbiologists provide advice about interpretation of microbiology results, treatment of infections and infection control issues.
We also work in close liaison with the infectious disease clinicians and the Infection Control service at ADHB.
The General Microbiology section of LabPLUS uses molecular and culture techniques to identify a range of organisms, including, enteric pathogens, multi-
resistant organisms, anaerobes and fastidious bacteria. The section comprises of a highly motivated and passionate team of 30 staff covering 24 / 7 shifts.
About the position :
This is a permanent full-time position in General Microbiology. The normal hours are 40 hours per week Monday to Sunday rostered shift.
There will be a requirement to cover out-of-hours shifts and be available for on-call hours.
About you :
Our preferred candidate will have a background in a diagnostic general Microbiology and at least 2 years’ experience in a Microbiology laboratory.
You must be currently registered as a medical laboratory Scientist by the Medical Sciences Council of New Zealand. For details, visit
