Manager Safety, Security and Wellbeing

The Manager Safety, Security and Wellbeing is an integral member of the leadership team in the Human Resources Directorate at the Wellington City Council (the Council).

This is a vital role that reports to the Director of Human Resources and works closely with the Council's leadership team to contribute to the achievement of the Council's strategic vision and business goals through the development, management and monitoring of safety, security and wellbeing policies, strategies, plans, systems and practices.

As the Manager Safety, Security and Wellbeing you will lead the development and design of strategies and initiatives that increase the understanding of, and operationalise safety, security and wellbeing activities and related risk management to achieve performance and practice that are comparable with the best and most responsible organisations.

You will need to provide leadership and advice to Council's internal and external stakeholders on safety security and wellbeing so that the Council exceeds its obligations under the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 and other related Regulations.

  • What are we looking for?

  • A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent skills and experience
  • Proof of understanding of health and safety and related employment legislation
  • Demonstrated experience in the management and provision of safety security and wellbeing services and systems to a diverse and complex organisation
  • A proven track record of achievement in collaboration and integration in a political, or similar environment
  • Knowledge and experience with the ACC Partnership Programme
  • Proven ability to conduct investigations, using ICAM methodology
  • Development of performance reporting, measurement and research programmes
  • Exceptional written, visual and oral communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to present well- crafted detailed analysis and arguments
  • Proven ability to manage and deliver in a changing and pressured environment
