The National Leader's Office is looking for a creative Head of Digital to lead and deliver effective communications direct to the public through digital media.

The Head of Digital will be tasked with developing and enhancing National's digital channels and delivering a top-notch digital strategy and presence.

This is a key role in the National Leader's office and is an opportunity to help shape and influence public debate on key issues affecting New Zealand's future and hold the Government to account.

The Head of Digital will provide leadership in the following key areas :

  • helping to shape National's overall digital strategy and messaging, and ensuring the digital communications efforts of the wider National Leader's Office are consistent and coordinated
  • managing the work programme of the Digital Team, including coordinating the scheduled posting of digital content, to ensure content is posted within tight deadlines and to the relevant channels
  • mentoring and guiding a wide range of National Caucus Support staff, including those in the Digital Team
  • identifying and maximising opportunities to progress National's digital communications agenda
  • ensuring all digital engagement is consistent with Speaker's Directions, policies, processes and overall strategy
  • To succeed in this role, you will have seven to ten years' relevant experience in digital communications and / or media organisations, preferably in a public sector or political setting.

    You will have strong working knowledge of social media platforms and their business analytics tools, with the ability to report digital engagement and feedback to the wider leadership team.

    You will have credibility, high personal and professional standards, a strong work ethic, able to assess risk, and the demonstrated ability to lead and develop a high performing team.

    Parliament is a fast-paced and demanding environment where no two days are the same. We are looking for someone who thrives under pressure and enjoys a challenge.

    This is an events-based role linked to the Leader of the Party working 40 hours per week. The appointing salary band for this role is $120,000 - $150,000 per annum.

    Appointments will be based on skills and experience.
