12 Month Maternity Leave Contract fulltime AROTEC Diagnostics Ltd is a manufacturer and global distributor of highquality antigens and antibodies for the autoimmune diagnostics market It was started 20 years ago as a private organisation and more recently acquired by a US private equity company The manufacturing facility is a stateoftheart and purposebuilt facility located in Lower Hutt Wellington AROTEC s sophisticated processes together with its highly specialised trained team of scientists and overseas sales team has made the company the leader in native antigen purification to diagnostics equipment manufacturers around the world In line with the organisation s acquisition and its future direction as a key manufacturer and supplier to multinational customers the company has grown rapidly and has been investing heavily in new technologies continuous development of its employees and an ongoing improvement of processes systems in order to maintain its leadership in key markets across Europe North America and Asia Since AROTECs inception the company has undertaken a concerted effort to produce both established and novel autoantigen reagents under stringent quality system with a key emphasis on process control and continual improvement AROTEC s business focus is on actively expanding this portfolio adding new native recombinant antigens and antibodies to provide a comprehensive product range for many autoimmune disease states ROLE DESCRIPTION We are currently looking for a Research and Development Associate to join our highperforming production team The position is critical in ensuring we maintain our ability to exceed our customer s expectations The primary responsibility of this role will supporting the Research Development and Product Improvement Department in relation to developing new products and improving the efficiency and effectiveness of our production processes Candidates will have a Bachelor s or Master s degree in Biochemistry Biotechnology or a related field and have a keen enthusiasm to work in a commercial production laboratory environment KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Performing biochemistry techniques such as protein gel electrophoresis immunoblotting techniques SDSPAGE Native gel Western blot and dot blot and ELISA Undertaking protein extraction purification from Insect E coli and yeast cells Working with chromatography systems Ionexchange Hydrophobic affinity size exclusion Engagement in cell culture and aseptic techniques Making reagents buffers stock solutions and maintain inventories The successful candidate will have Experience working in research and production laboratory settings The ability to develop and execute methods in AKTA FPLC systems A good understanding of the value and adherence to Quality Management Systems and Good Laboratory Practices GLP Experience in routine laboratory maintenance maintenance of laboratory safety standards and knowledge of Quality System Reports Good organisation skills effective verbal and written communication skills Ability to work individually in a timely manner and within a team environment Strength in maintaining laboratory records to high standards and good report writing skills Experience in providing highquality support to experienced scientists enabling faster team progress Good attention to detail analytical and problemsolving skills Knowledge of Microsoft office suite Word Excel and PowerPoint Other attributes and skills High level of drive and enthusiasm A strong supportive team player Right firsttime approach Works collaboratively within and outside the team High levels of initiative and selfmotivation Adaptable and flexible Customeroriented recognises that the customer is the reason we are here Job benefits In return the successful candidate will be strongly supported to learn and develop new skills within a welcoming and collaborative environment and be part of making a positive difference to the millions of people worldwide that suffer from autoimmune diseases A good remuneration package is available based on performance and contribution and all team members are part of a performance Bonus Scheme APPLICATIONS All applications will be handled with strict confidentiality To apply please click the Apply Now button below and send your resume with a cover letter addressing the above criteria Closing date for applications is Friday January 31st at 5 00pm
