Are you a journalist who is passionate about local community news and ready for your next career move? Allied Press Ltd has exciting opportunities to join our reporting team at The Ensign newspaper in Gore.

Chief Reporter

We are looking for a chief reporter to lead a small and busy editorial team. The successful applicant will be an experienced journalist with proven writing, organisational and leadership skills.

You will be a team player with a strong work ethic who is ?exible, enthusiastic and able to deliver stories

to regular deadlines. You will cover a variety of local community news across the district. Familiarity with council and court reporting would be a bonus, as would shorthand, social media skills and having what it takes to tell a story with photos and video.

Ad feature writing will also be required.

Sports & General Reporter

We have an opportunity for a professional and passionate reporter to join our team in Gore. The role will require you to produce engaging sports and general news stories, as well as writing ad features quickly and accurately.

The successful candidate will be a self-starter with a high degree of initiative. You must be enthusiastic and have a desire to tell people’s stories.

You will also possess the ability to juggle tasks and

meet regular deadlines. Ideally, you will have experience in newspaper reporting and a keen interest in local sports and general news.

Allied Press Limited employs over 450 people on a permanent basis across our 15 sites in the South Island. We operate across multiple media platforms (print, online, digital) delivering news, information and entertainment through our various regional and city publications, including The Ensign (Gore).

The Ensign is published weekly and delivered to 12,000 homes in Eastern Southland, Northern Southland and West Otago.

These roles will require regular work on weekends and evenings.

You will need a clean full or restricted NZ driving licence.

A relevant journalism quali?cation or industry experience is a distinct advantage.
