    About the service :

    The Maaori, Equity and Health Improvement departments within the Waikato DHB work to ensure that whānau can access wellbeing and health services.

    Some members of the team work out in communities and there a key part of the departments is ensuring the good relationships are developed throughout the Waikato DHB area with the communities served by the DHB.

    About the role :

    This role is a key position - responsible for leading and co-ordinating the actions and activities in the Waikato Suicide Prevention and Post-vention Action Plan

    Coordinate and facilitate effective inter-agency mechanisms and forums on suicide prevention and postvention for the Waikato DHB.

    Ensure that consultation and engagement processes include appropriate mechanisms to meet the need of Maaori in a culturally appropriate and safe manner.

    Responsibilities of the role :

  • To lead suicide prevention and post-vention initiatives and activities for the Waikato DHB, in conjunction with the Suicide Post-vention Coordinator Maaori.
  • Partner with a range of stakeholders to progress wellbeing for the whaanau and their community, to prevent suicide.
  • Promote national objectives and vision of NZ Suicide Prevention Strategy, and Tuuramarama ki te Ora Maaori Suicide Strategy, 20219 2029.
  • Required skills & experience :

  • Relevant Health or Social Sciences tertiary qualification, post graduate or progression preferred.
  • Experience in working closely and effectively with the Maaori community, particularly in the Waikato
  • Experience in working in Suicide prevention / post-vention or a related and closely connected field.
