The Watch House has an opportunity for a part time (0.47FTE) CommunityMental Health Nurse based at the central police station.

Working outside of the clinicalenvironment based at the central police station, your professional approachwill see you working alongside the police providing excellent mentalhealth / alcohol / drug support and education.

You will undertake a briefassessment of the persons in custody, looking at their risk, mental state,co-existing addiction issues, and formulate a plan.

Where appropriate, you willliaise with other Specialist Mental Health Services.

This position is key to making a difference in someone’slife, engaging and providing early intervention and therefore enabling theperson to receive appropriate care.

The ability to work both autonomously andcollaboratively in an integrated manner alongside an ability to confidentlyrelate to all walks of life is imperative to this role.

Flexibility isessential as you may be required to work as part of the wider crisis resolutionfunction to meet clinical needs.

This is a 0.47 FTE, permanent rostered position(following a 4 days on, 2 days off roster pattern).

In order to be successful in this role, the following is required :

  • Registered with the Nursing Council of NewZealand with a current APC and mental health scope
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience working withinMental Health including psychiatric and risk assessments
  • Be a Duly Authorised Officer who has been trainedand signed off as being able to facilitate the MHA or a willingness to train asone
  • Possess the knowledge and ability to use computersand related technology efficiently
  • Have a full New Zealand drivers license
