Mō te tūnga The role
Our Data and Information Management team works across our organisation to support better management of data, records, and other information resources.
Due to internal movement, we are looking for an Advisor or a Senior Advisor to provide continuity of customer service, advice, training and support to shape the programme of work to improve Stats NZ data management governance and practices.
As an Advisor , you will provide the operational and administration function for some of the data and information systems that our team is responsible for.
As a Senior Advisor , you will maintain the conceptual infrastructure for metadata in our data repositories, respond to complex questions around data discovery, retention and preservation from staff and colleagues in the team, and evaluate requests for enhancements of our data systems
in particular, you will support design analysts, enterprise architects and business analysts on data management questions.

This is a fixed term position ending June 2022. We are open to appointing at the Advisor or Senior Advisor level, depending on applicants skills and experience.
We will also consider secondment.
Advisor starting salary : $70, 131 - $82,507
Senior Advisor starting salary : $76,571 - $90, 084
Mōu About you
You are passionate about data and information and thrive on improving its management to maximise value, usage and long-term preservation.
You have a sound understanding of legislative obligations for data and information management in the public sector, which you effectively articulate to our internal and external customers who approach you for advice and guidance.
Ideally, you have provided user support and training on data management platforms. You are comfortable working on initiatives with the business and technology sides of the organisation.
You are a quick learner and a self-starter who can juggle priorities with the flexibility to shift focus when required. As a highly organised and self-managing person, you're able to work independently and as part of a cross functional team.
