We are currently searching for a dynamic, hands on, ambitious individual looking to step into a Category Manager role that is a key position in a fast paced, ever changing, demanding but rewarding business.

We are a leading specialty retailer who is experiencing ongoing growth, and with whom the future is extremely exciting. This role is suitable for somebody with 3 5 years category experience gained in a fast-

moving category role. You may already be in a CM or equivalent position or an individual who is ready and willing to take a step up into their first Category Manager role.

The successful candidate must possess end to end buying / category management experience ideally gained in a high-volume Retail / FMCG or General Merchandise environment and be willing to be both hands on and strategic in their approach.

You will be ready to bring your proven business and commercial acumen to a business in which your input is truly valued and recognised.

You must be or have :

  • An experienced and successful Associate Category Manager or Category Manager (general merchandise experience will be highly regarded) with at least 3-
  • 5 years’ experience in role or similar.

  • Customer focused and able to understand and interpret customer needs and wants
  • The ability to execute all facets of category management, including financial analysis, inventory control, supplier and range management
  • Experienced in merchandise principles and execution
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills
  • Able to be support change as a key member of a small, agile team.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and willing to challenge the norm.
  • Experience of managing people as part of your current role.
  • Key tasks include :

  • End to end category management
  • Developing effective promotions that drive sales and profitability
  • Range reviews
  • Category strategy planning and execution
  • Planning and Inventory Control
  • Supplier management
  • Building strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Your demonstrated experience in supplier negotiations and your ability to conduct range reviews and negotiate supplier terms are essential.

    You will possess a minimum of 3-5 years category management experience in a high volume, high turnover environment.
