    The opportunity

    Te Aroha is the newest and one of the largest of Silver Fern Farms’ 14 processing sites. With a staff complement of up to 560 at peak season, the site runs all year-round, with a transition between the Te Aroha and Waitoa sites.

    Te Aroha is Silver Fern Farms’ flagship site and (once international travel is practicably possible in the future) will be the showcase plant for international visitors and customers.

    As such this is a prestigious leadership opportunity at a key site in Silver Fern Farms’ processing operation.

    The Te Aroha site is the newest, and one of the largest of Silver Fern Farms’ 14 processing sites. With a staff complement of up to 560 at peak season, the site runs all year-round, with a transition between the Te Aroha and Waitoa sites.

    As Site Manager you will be responsible for leading the processing plants at Te Aroha and Waitoa, encompassing people management, engineering, commercial, quality, production, compliance and plant systems.

    Reporting to the Regional Operations Manager and leading a capable and experienced team, you will take accountability for the overall performance of the Te Aroha / Waitoa sites.

    Your main responsibilities will include, though not be limited to :

  • Provide proactive and strategically aligned leadership for safety and all employment values, culture, and sustainability
  • Build the sites’ short and long-term plans in conjunction with the Operations Leadership Team
  • Lead the execution of the plan across all key dimensions of People, Quality, Production, and Engineering
  • Own asset management for the sites considering longer-term requirements and the resulting capital needs
  • Lead process improvement and attainment of excellence
  • Driving efficiencies and a cost focus to achieve robust management KPI’s
  • Drive commercial performance; understanding profitability levers and risks within the business and making changes as necessary to achieve objectives

    You will also be responsible for leading a large processing team to achieve efficient and accurate delivery of quality products and great customer service.

    Ensuring health and safety standards are maintained and both financial and production targets are met is integral to the role.
