Who are we ?

This role is with the ITOM Networks Team within the Spark Service Assurance Domain.

ITOM Networks is the Team responsible for maintaining and developing some of Spark's Core Network management toolsets. These are crucial to providing the Performance, Alerting, Configuration and Access to keep Spark's Managed Customers and Internal Networks running.

We are the glue between Spark's high calibre Network Engineers and most of New Zealand's biggest Corporate and Government customer networks.

What is the Role?

You'll be accountable for the support, development and build work associated with our core monitoring and network management tools - including VMWare Smart Assurance, Telco Cloud Ops, NCM, Control-M, Vision ACS, SevOne, Nagios and similar.

You will grow to be a technical subject matter expert in a number of our Toolsets and our team will eventually look to you for mentoring and leadership.

This DevOps Engineer role is the perfect blend of Development and Operational capabilities for you to show your strengths.

What are we looking for in a successful candidate?

  • 5-10 years' experience in IT Systems and Support with competencies across a broad range of technologies
  • Knowledge of Server & Network Toolset Technologies including but not limited to VMWare, Cisco, Aruba, Huawei, Fortinet, F5, Prognosis, etc.
  • Understanding of management protocols including Tcp-Ip, Snmp, Ssh, Dns, Netflow, Routing, Syslog and other management metrics.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Commercial skills and experience in dealing effectively with clients and suppliers
  • A positive team player, and attitude and willingness to the best for your team and wider business
  • Professional, self-driven and client focused
  • As a 24x7 Company our systems need to be maintained during all hours, so availability to provide after hours support is crucial.
  • Willingness to have a bit of fun and be a Team player.
  • Our nice to haves in a candidate :

  • Previous experience as a NOC or Systems Engineer or similar in an MSP or Telco Environment
  • Experience with ServiceNow, BMC and other ITOM systems.

    This position is full time and can be based in Auckland, Hamilton or Wellington, New Zealand.

    As we regularly work with secure Customer and Government data, clearances will be required through NZ Police, Ministry of Justice and Department of Corrections.
