Media ConsultantUniversity Staff and studentsExternal suppliersKey Accountabilities Report to and advise AHOS on how the technical and multimedia capacity of the School can bemost effectively be utilised.
Promote self-sufficient use of multimedia, computing and network services by Staff andStudents by providing advice, training and support.
Provide media support to the School’s teaching staff and students including facilitations of livestreaming facilities to distance students and Massey’s other campuses, assisting the teachingstaff in preparation of equipment for in-
class tasks, and supporting researchers as required. Manage the School’s technical facilities and resources in a way that is efficient and timely.
Coordinate the purchase, maintenance and replacement technical equipment. Support and develop the technical capacity and training needs of School staff and students.
Develop linkages across the School, including leading or supporting relevant fundingapplications. Pursue new opportunities as they arise that extend the technical knowledge of the School.
Facilitate the use of new software and equipment when needed. Liaise with Massey’s Information Technology Services unit and other Massey Schools.
Develop and maintain appropriate systems for lending technical equipment to students andmaintaining the existing library of technology and facilities.

Advise users on the appropriate use of information-communication technology in line withUniversity information technology strategy, policy and practice.
Provide training and documentation on systems and software use. Liaise with AHOS and other CJM techs on additional or non-

Media) JD June 2019Person SpecificationQualifications An appropriate qualification in information technology, digital media or a closely relatedfield, or equivalent substantive professional experiences.
Experience Proficiency in a range of different software and multimedia packages, including the abilityand initiative to extend knowledge to new systems as the need arises.
Though the Universityoperates the Adobe Creative Suite, experience beyond these platforms would be a plus. Experience with a range of audio-
video equipment. Video production skills are key, andother forms of AV experience, particularly sound design, would be a plus.
Be comfortable working in both PC and Macintosh environments. Experience in web design and / or maintenance and familiarity with video / onlineconferencing.
Previous experience in a similar or related support role would be a plus.Personal attributes and behaviours : Ideal candidates will have strong competence in most areas of the role and a demonstratedability to quickly self-
direct skills development in new technologies or applications. Ideal candidates will have demonstrated organisational ability, particularly around managingdiverse requests and expectations Demonstrated ability to engage productively with staff and students to support theirtechnical needs.
As this role involves engaging with multiple stakeholders, stronginterpersonal skills are key. Good time management skills and an ability to productively self-
