We are acting now and aligning to the strategic direction of our business. This new way of operating will enable a collaborative model combining strong operational line management with end to end process expertise.

As such we are now looking for a Design & Innovation Manager - Data to join the team. About the Strategy & Excellence Operational Team NZ Post operates an integrated network where items are delivered safely, in the most cost-effective and profitable manner based on the class of service the customer has paid for.

The Strategy and Operational Excellence team are responsible for ensuring that the capabilities for this are defined, built and maintained in such a way that decentralised operations can utilise these to meet the defined service, safety and cost outcomes.

About the role This is an exciting opportunity for a forward-thinking data boffin with expertise in data science or related areas (think artificial intelligence, data mining, machine learning, data visualisation - you get the drift).

You'll lead the digital transformation of our operations, taking our information and turning it into meaningful data and insights that adds value to our operation business and supports our operating strategy and target operating model.

Working collaboratively across the team, you'll lead the data conversations and connect in with our technology and physical networks to ensure a defined solution that not only works but leads the market. You'll do this through

  • Translating the CSD Operating Strategy and target operating model into strategic requirements
  • Developing and maintaining an innovation roadmap, aligned with CSD Operating Strategy and key program of work
  • Leading strategic thinking and innovation frameworks for data to define optimum target state solutions
  • Leading and develop a team to support and deliver on the strategy About you As a leading edge mind, you'll live and breathe data.
  • You'll also understand the world of logistics and how the two worlds meet. You'll be naturally curious and enjoy the challenge of solving complex problems across a wide area of business issues.

    Taking a first principles approach to problem solving, you'll be relentless in the face of challenges, of which there will be a few.

    To confidentially tackle this role, you'll possess

  • Outstanding knowledge of Data Science and Statistics principles
  • Proven research capability applying knowledge about image processing, mathematical modelling and deep learning to building algorithms and software
  • Strong people leadership skills including coaching and developing direct reports
  • Clear communication skills, turning the complex into easily digestible and being able to engage, present and influence at all levels of the organisation Interested?
