Auckland Council aims to deliver waste services more efficiently, find better ways to recover and re-use resources and send less waste to landfill.
A two-year fixed term opportunity is available for a Senior Communications Specialist to join our busy Waste Minimisation and Management Plan (WMMP) team.
As a Senior Communications Specialist, you will develop and deliver creative, accessible and innovative communications plans and strategies for the WMMP.
You will contribute to the reputation management of the council by building trust in the council decisions and operations.
In particular, you will work closely with the Solid Waste team and Communications department to ensure the programmes are delivered, stakeholders engaged and objectives met.
This role will see you put your planning and project management skills to the test through managing a range of campaigns for a variety of audiences against critical deadlines.
Additionally, you will be responsible for producing media releases and managing relationships with the media, agencies and the public.
While publicity is the main focus of this role it is balanced alongside a major marketing emphasis.He kōrero mōu : About youYou are a driven individual who executes and delivers well.
You are passionate about the environment and are wanting to make a difference. As this role has both a publicity and marketing focus, proven experience in both areas is preferred.
You will be able to point to your delivery of successful communication strategies, as well as the development and implementation of well received programmes and services.
Naturally, you will have a strong generalist communication skill set and an inherent risk radar. You will be a real team player with a passion for communications and influencing change in social behaviour through targeted communications.
