Scion specialises in research, science, and technology development for the forestry industry, wood products, and wood-derived materials.
We lead new technology development for renewables, bioproducts, and energy and the establishment of a broader-based bio-economy.
We are looking for someone to join our team of pioneers in the application of remote sensing technologies. Reporting to the Team Leader Remote sensing and GIS, within our Digital and Data Research group, you will :
Support high-quality research and development in the application of remote sensing and GIS technologies, especially related to forest health and ecosystem services.
Apply remote sensing skills to deliver science excellence and technology transfer as measured by the number and quality of scientific proposals, innovations, publications, and industry impact.
Support the enablement of project deliverables by providing expertise and innovative thought leadership to enhance the contributions of remote sensing to progressive science.
Identify, develop and maintain new and existing collaborations and relationships to support remote sensing research and potential opportunities to extend scientific impact.
What are we looking for?
remote sensing, or a closely related field with solid training in statistics and modeling, plus relevant experience in the use of remote sensing technologies.
Proven reputation for science quality and impact within New Zealand and / or internationally, with a growing track record (Scopus h index 3+) of meaningful publications and citations.
Excellent quantitative, analytical, and interpretative skills with a deep understanding of statistics, modeling, data management, and analysis.
Proven track record managing and leading small-and large-scale remote sensing research projects and project teams an advantage.
