As a Fabric Technologist located in our global head office in Auckland, New Zealand , you’ll be supporting the Global Materials and Sustainability Manager in developing and commercialising materials to meet our quality standards and seasonal timelines.
You’ll be responsible for :
Supporting the Global Materials and Sustainability manager in the sourcing and quality assurance of innovative performance fabrics and trims.
Obtaining and reviewing fabric specifications and testing information to ensure that fabrics meet required quality, price, minimums and lead times
Establishing, strengthening and maintaining relationships with the VF Asia Sourcing Office, fabric suppliers, manufacturing partners and our wider icebreaker teams to maximize speed and efficiency of the materials
Communicate with the VF Asia Sourcing Office and suppliers on sampling and lab dipping requirements
Manage the wearer testing process for new fabric developments, ensuring Icebreaker standards are met.
Managing and maintaining icebreakers fabric sample library
Inputting material details into PLM, ensuring timeliness and accuracy
Who you are :
1+ years experience in similar materials development, production or quality assurance role for multi-channel manufacturing company
Some understanding of lifestyle apparel design combined with technical apparel fabrication and construction know-how
Good understanding of the lifestyle apparel business model combined with that of sporting goods / outdoor
Experience developing performance-oriented apparel fabrics with offshore manufacturing partners to a target cost
Exposure to managing and maintaining a fabric library.
High level of computer literacy and an affinity for technology; proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PLM / PDM solutions
