This is a varied role where no two days are the same. The breadth of this role will enable you to work the eco system, join the dots and navigate your way through our unique environment.

You will gain a really broad understanding of NZDF.

Working closely with the Director of Industry and External Engagement, you will be responsible for managing the day to day operation of the business centre.

This includes engaging with and hosting visitors, facilities management, security and liaising with the other units in the facility.

As an outward facing role, the core function will involve building and maintaining relationships with our industry and external partners who are integral to supporting the delivery of NZDF’s outputs.

Other parts of the role include :

  • Managing liaison with visitors, partners and Stakeholders supporting the Director of Industry & External Engagement;
  • Event Development and Management;
  • Development of marketing and communications collateral and implementation of programmes of work;
  • The production, distribution and storage of information, correspondence, minutes, reports and other documentation for the Management team;
  • Sole responsibility for managing business support activities across the unit including invoicing, account processing, credit card processing, reconciliation and reporting for the Industry Engagement function; and

    Ensuring there is consistency in the administrative systems and processes employed within the Business Centre.

    Please Note : The formal title for this role within NZDF is Business Hub Engagement Manager.

    If your passion and skills lie in building and maintaining sound working relationships, building a strong network across a diverse range of organisations and people, then this role could be for you.

    You may currently be in business development or sales, or have a communications background and are looking to step up into an industry engagement role.

    You will bring a good level of commercial acumen to this role. You will have experience and capabilities demonstrating your ability to develop an effective network to leverage to the benefit the NZDF.

    An understanding of or willingness to learn about the governments Progressive Procurement programme would be advantageous.

    Key skills important for this role are :

  • Exceptional communication skills with a customer service orientation;
  • Excellent time management and task organisational skills, with the ability to cope under pressure, managing various tasks at once and using initiative;
  • Ability to work with commercially sensitive and confidential information exercising the highest degree of discretion;
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills (both written and verbal);
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the following software packages : Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Outlook (including Calendar function), Intermediate computer web skills; and

    Previous high level office management experience and basic accounting and financial management.

  • and has a background history that is verifiable and can be assessed as appropriate by the NZ Security Intelligence Service (NZSIS) towards a recommendation of suitability for a security clearance at this level.
