MidCentral District Health Board! (Scope of Practice Registered Nurse)

  • At least two year’s recent surgical and / or medical experience as a New Zealand registered nurse or Nursing Council equivalent registered nurse (Not suitable for new graduates.)
  • We are looking for dynamic and enthusiastic registered nurses to join the ICU / HDU team at Palmerston North Hospital. Staff will be well supported through an orientation.

    We have various FTE available between 0.6 - 1.0 (permanent and temporary). All positions will be working rostered duties and on-

    call as required by the needs of the department. We are looking for applicants with the following attributes / skills :

  • Maintains a professional attitude at all times
  • Ability to communicate with all members of the multidisciplinary team, patients and whanau
  • Knowledge and experience in critical care nursing and good understanding of the patient journey
  • Ability to provide patient care that meets individual needs with preservation of dignity and confidentiality
  • Delivers care that recognises patient’s rights and is sensitive to ethnic and cultural values
  • MidCentral District Health Board is committed to ensuring that children and young people are safe from abuse and harm. As part of our commitment to children and young people, and in line with the Vulnerable Children Act 2014, appointment to positions that involve regular or overnight contact with children will include worker safety checks.

    General Information

    MidCentral District Health Board employs more than 2500 staff at Manawatu, Palmerston North, Tararua and Horowhenua and Otaki districts.

    Palmerston North Hospital is a 350 bed secondary hospital, which services an urban population of 80,000 and a total population catchment of 168,000.

    In addition, the hospital is a teaching hospital, and is associated with both Auckland and Otago medical schools.

    Palmerston North is a major university city and is at the hub of key routes to the central North Island ski fields, and river adventures.

    Wellington the capital city, is only a two hour journey by road, as are the wine growing regions of Hawke's Bay and Wairarapa.
